One Stitch Later.......

Yesterday, Peanut was playing and fell down and hit her face on the piano bench. OUCH! She got three cuts and I wasn't sure if she needed stitches, so we headed down to the urgent care. She ended up needing one stitch. Poor thing! She did really well and was a brave girl. She even got a sticker and a sucker after the whole thing was over!

I put a band-aid over the stitch so she wouldn't keep touching it. She woke up this morning with a nice purple eyelid. It looks like she is wearing eye shadow. This is her 2nd black eye in less than 3 months. Apparently she inherited me and Brad's clumsy genes. Poor girl got a double dose!
As a side note, we made our own Turkey for the first time ever this year. It turned out well!
Brad made a nice looking apple pie and I made banana creme. Unfortunately this is what my pie looked like after I made it. Ooops! Brad got a kick out of it!

My Crafty Wife

Well, I thought since Angela has done such a good job on this blog, I guess I should do my part and post. In the last month or so, Ang and some of her friends have been doing a 'craft night' once a week. I was very pleased with the results, so I'd thought I'd post them for the world to see:Sorry this is sideways, just turn your head to see it right (and hopefully your vestibular ocular reflex will kick in to keep you from getting positional vertigo, sorry, just had to put that one in). This is an advent calendar that Ang made in the shape of a Christmas tree (in case you couldn't figure that out on your own). And by the way, no, an advent calendar is not something the Seventh Day Adventists do for Christmas (that's what I asked Ang when she said she was making one).

Here's the Thanksgiving piece of the collection. The true miracle of this banner is it's versatility, not only can it say "giving thanks", but also "thanks giving". Clever, and cute, all at the same time.

I'm glad Ang has started doing this, not only because it gives me an excuse to do more studying while she's being crafty w/ her friends ;) but also because it makes the house much more festive. Good job hon!!

I just thought I'd add a few cute pics of Peanut in her new Fall dress, since I know my parents won't even look at our blog unless there's pictures of Peanut on it! :) Oh, I almost forgot, Peanut had her first haircut the other day. I was sorry to have missed it, Ang said she did pretty well. Here's a few pics of it:

She's happy now, but just wait........................

ooohhhh, it can't be that bad, can it? It turned out super cute though, and she loves to remind us about 8 times a day that she got a hair cut (along with the 'owie' she got about a month ago). Well, I think I should end this post, now that it is probably the longest post in 'Our Family' blog history, which is fitting. So, I'll end by saying this: "GO SUNS!!!"

Daddy-Daughter Date

One of our friends and his little girl invited Brad and Peanut to the Blazers game last night. Brad even cheered for the Blazers (only because they were playing the Mavericks)
Peanut had a great time and she was so good! She liked the basketball game and Brad loved being able to take her and spend some time one on one with her!

Carving Pumpkins and Halloween

Peanut actually got into carving pumpkins this year! She liked scooping out the "guts", but only with a spoon. She did not like getting her hands dirty.
You can definitely tell who did which pumpkin! Of course, Brad had to go all out on his pumpkin!
This picture was just too cute to leave out!
Here is Peanut on Halloween. Her doggy name is "Cleo" She loved going trick or treating and was a natural.

Walk in the Park

After playing on the slide, Peanut and I went for a walk around the park to play in the leaves!

Trunk-or-Treat

Tonight was our ward trunk-or-treat. Peanut was fast asleep and we had to wake her up at 6:15 to even go! She didn't want to wake up, but I kept telling her that she would get to wear her doggie costume and walk around and get candy. She was pretty excited about that! She had fun going from car to car and even said "Trick or treat"! We still need to teach her about picking the good candy from the bowls. If she got to pick, she would take the hard candy or suckers. I think in her pumpkin there is only one piece of chocolate! Oh well! :) As you can see from the picture, she loves the suckers!

PAVA Halloween Party

We had a Halloween Party Tuesday night at the school. We had signed up to bring treats and I decided to make a pumpkin cake. This is the end result. It ended up being one of the "big" prizes in the cake walk. So Brad dressed up as a volleyball player (he had a game right after) and I dressed up as a cowgirl and Peanut was a pink poodle. Her doggie name is Cleo. Sometimes we can even get her to do dog tricks!
At the party, they had different booths set up for the kids. They had extra donuts left over, so the guys all had a donut eating contest. I thought for sure my honey would have won, but surprisingly he didn't! Maybe next time hon! Anyway, it was a fun night!

Pumpkin Patch

We went to a fun pumpkin patch on the most beautiful fall day! The pumpkin patch is in North Plains which is about 20 min from where we live. It is so pretty!
Peanut had a great time because you get to ride a train out to the pumpkin patch and then you get to ride a boat back.

Once the train dropped us off, peanut grabbed a wheelbarrow and was ready to go!
Her pushing it didn't last long. As you can see, it was a lot more fun riding inside! So many pumpkins to choose from! We finally found 2 that we liked the best.

It's Official...........

Brad is officially an "ensign" in the United States Navy. He got commissioned this morning.

He is all smiles signing the contract! Let's hope it stays that way for the next 6 years! :)
Peanut was pretty entertained with her crayons and cookie. She had no idea what we were doing!

"Winnie the Pooh Tails"

This morning I was trying to get Peanut ready so we could go meet Brad and as I was doing her hair, I asked her, "Do you want 1 ponytail or 2?" She didn't answer me, so I said, "Hold still while I put your pigtails in." She looked at me and then said, "I don't want pigtails. I want Winnie the Pooh Tails!" Ha Ha.

A trip to the zoo..........

Yesterday, we decided to go to the zoo! Peanut was especially excited to see the "helebut" aka elephant, so of course we had to take a picture! Okay, so random fact. One of the elephants at the zoo is pregnant. They just announced it and guess when the elephant conceived? (Like you really care) December of last year. Guess when the baby is due? Next October. Thats right. Elephants are pregnant for 22 months. The longest of any land animal. And I thought 9 months was a long time!
After the elephants Peanut and her daddy were playing on the "animal play area". It was very fun to watch!

But after a few minutes, she did this expression and said, "Where's my mommy?" I love that!
Brad's favorite part of the zoo is the Lorikeet landing. You can buy nectar for a buck and feed the birds. They fly and land on you and drink! It is so cool! Last time we did this I got pooped on, so I didn't want to hold the nectar. Brad had a bunch of birds on him and one point and 3 of them pooped (away from him though!) He lucked out! :)
Peanut wanted to feed the birds, so Brad helped her and then one flew on her head. It was the funniest thing ever. She got so scared though! It was a very fun day!

Mystery Food

So we were making dinner awhile back and Peanut saw the tomato on the counter and thought it was an apple. She grabbed it and started eating it and was a little surprised when it wasn't the apple she thought it was! I thought she would have put it back, but she kept on eating it! At least it occupied her while we were cooking!

Update

So Peanut's owie turned into a black eye. I tried taking a picture of it and I'll post it when I can!

Peanut looks more like.........

Cute Girl

So I took this picture of Peanut the other day and I thought it was too cute. She is just chillin' in the grass at the zoo.

"My Owie"

So Peanut fell down yesterday and got cut on her face. She was very upset and decided she wanted a band-aid. Now all she does is tell us about her owie and she doesn't want to take off the band-aid. It is very cute.

Safety Girl

So Peanut always has to make sure her seat belt is on! When she is in her booster seat, she has to buckle herself in. When she is in the bike trailer, every buckle possible has to be buckled. I am not complaining by any means, I just think its funny how particular she is. So yesterday, we went to a "tractor" birthday part and she loved getting on the tractor. However, she had to make sure she was buckled in before she could pretend drive it! :) I love my safety girl!

Ward Campout

So, we went camping at Cape Lookout Park down by Tillamook on the coast. It was the first time Peanut had gone camping! We got there and set up our tiny tent that barely fit our air mattress inside! We had one of the bigger sites so it looked funny to see our tiny tent on our huge site!
Then we went over to our friends' camp site and shared their fire so we could make our hot dogs!

After dinner, we walked to the beach which was a few minutes away. It was so pretty! We got to see the sunset too! Our ward had a bonfire on the beach and we told stories and sang songs. After the bonfire, we went back and had smores and hot chocolate with our friends. Peanut was tired and wanted to go home. She kept asking to go to the car. She didn't realize we were actually sleeping in the tent! She fell asleep on us so we were able to hang out with our friends for a bit and then we went sleep. She did really well. I was cold so I kept waking up all night. It was cool to hear the ocean while you were laying there. The next morning, we got up and while we were waiting for breakfast that the ward was making, we wanted to start a fire and warm up a bit. We couldn't get the fire going very well, so Brad got the air pump and used it to help the fire get going! It worked very well as you can see by the picture below! :)

After breakfast, we walked down to the beach and played. Peanut wanted to fly her kite, so Brad helped her with it. There was barely enough wind to fly it! She played in the sand and Brad even put on his wet suit and braved the ocean water! We had a fun time!
This is how peanut let us pack up our stuff! She was ready to go and very entertained by the movie playing! All in all, we had a great time!
